Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive legal support for Santander Corporate & Investment Banking US’s growing Leveraged Finance business and its secondary loan trading partners.
  • Draft, review and negotiate relevant legal documentation, working along-side the deal team daily.
  • Partner closely with internal stakeholders to mitigate legal risk at the bank.
  • Provide advice on relevant laws, rules, regulations and market practice applicable to Leveraged Finance.
  • Build and maintain relationships with, and oversee engagement of external counsel.
  • Analyze relevant policy, legislative and legal developments and issues on industry specific topics, and share advice, insights and solutions with internal business and functional clients.
  • Assist with the support of other Santander Corporate & Investment Banking US businesses as needed and contribute to Firmwide and Legal Department projects and initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree, Law / J.D. degree, and active license to practice law in New York.
  • 10-15 years of legal working experience at law firms and/or financial institutions.
  • 8+ years relevant experience in leveraged or other bank financing structures.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication (including briefing) skills.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiating and counseling skills.
  • Strong ability to anticipate, identify and solve complex problems.

The base pay range for this position is posted below and represents the annualized salary range. For hourly positions (non-exempt), the annual range is based on a 40-hour work week. The exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications and location.

Base Pay Range

Minimum:

$153,750.00 USD

Maximum:

$265,000.00 USD
